Vanessa qualified in 1987 having studied at Guildford College of Law. She qualified into general practice, specialising at that time in the area of law relating to children and to crime. Vanessa joined Michelmores in 2008.
She built up a reputation for acting for children and parents in all types of proceedings before the Court, to include a specialism in international adoption, surrogacy and care proceedings, with a particular interest in fabricated illness syndrome.
Vanessa also has served on the local Resolution Committee and is a member of the Exeter Family Court Users Group, looking at ways of improving the court service to the public. She also has assisted in preparing child protection policies for schools, colleges and youth organisations and is a regular lecturer for Jordans on family law relating to children.
Vanessa has helped Michelmores grow their Childcare Team in the South West, enhancing their reputation both locally and nationally. She undertook one of the first surrogacy arrangements in the South West and is constantly referred to as a source of knowledge on topics relating to children by her peers. She has also written several articles, which have been published nationally.
She is recognised in leading legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as a leader in her field.
